FAQS

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that affects the skin in different ways. Its not just skin deep, psoriasis occurs as the result of the body's immune system mistaking the skin cells as a pathogen which then means the immune system sends out faulty signals which speed up the production of skin cells. There are five different types: plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, inverse psoriasis, pustular psoriasis and erythrodermic psoriasis.

I'm not a doctor but thought I would give a short definition of what psoriasis is if you're viewing the blog and unsure  what exactly I'm blogging about!

How do you get psoriasis?

As far as I know, no one has yet been able to identify exact psoriasis causes. It is believed the cause of psoriasis is both genetic and can be effected by your environment and influencing factors such as stress and diet.

Is there a cure for psoriasis?

There are many psoriasis treatments available, however there is currently no cure for psoriasis.

I think I might have psoriasis, what should I do?

If you think you have noticed psoriasis symptoms on your skin I would recommend going to see your doctor, who can refer you to a specialist. It can be daunting but the sooner you do the sooner you can start treating the psoriasis.

Can you recommend anywhere to find out more about psoriasis?

There are so many great resources out there if you're suffering with psoriasis, or know someone that is, a visit to your GP or a dermatologist is probably the best place to start as they are professionals and can point you in the right direction. If you're looking for some websites to read online, I would recommend The British Skin Foundation and The Psoriasis Association. I'm also following some really great Twitter accounts which you can view on my profile here.

Why have you started a blog about psoriasis?

I have started a blog about my experiences with psoriasis to share information and advice with other people with the skin condition but also to do my bit to create awareness about psoriasis. I have struggled with the condition for as long as I can remember and want to make sure this condition doesn't defeat me so I am actively doing something about it. I'd also like to get talking to other people and hear about their opinions and past experiences.

Have you genuinely tried and tested the products you are blogging about?
All the products I blog about are items that I have bought and tested unless otherwise stated. My main aim is to give my readers truthful and honest feedback about psoriasis products that are available on the market. I will try and do this to the best of my ability!

Can I ask you questions about psoriasis?

I welcome any questions or feedback about psoriasis or the blog. Please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can.
